The name of the cutlery series Rouge, might seem strange without an explanation. However, there is a very good reason for choosing this name, as the design of the series is based on the shape of a red wine glass. It has therefore been important to incorporate the sharp, but still confluent contrast between the bowl and the stem of a red wine glass.

The project has revolved around the idea of designing a sculptural but still functional set of cutlery. This can be seen in the sharp defining line going from the end of the knife to the merging of the blade, and the particular proportion of the front and back of the spoon and fork.

To give a better understanding of the feel and overall design, the series was printed in 1:1 scale on a 3D-printer. This made it very clear where it was important to rethink the design, for a better function.
